Course Content

  • Section 1 - How to install and set up your Sage Payroll for Windows program
    Installation of Sage Payroll. You will learn how to set up your company information and review the appropriate Government legislation. You will also practice how to set up your employee records, enter their relevant payroll information and year to date values. The set up of payroll users, their restriction to selected areas of the program and the set up of security passwords is also covered.
  • Section 2 - How to process a standard payroll run
    A ‘walk through’ a standard payroll run at your own pace. Learn how to select the employees you wish to process the payroll for, set the payroll tax period, reset and enter their payments for this period. How to produce useful payroll reports and employee payslips, how to perform a security backup and how to update the payroll figures for this pay period. The set up of new starters and how to deal with leavers are also covered in this book.
  • Section 3 - Dealing with Pay Reviews, Global Changes, Holidays, Pensions and Company Loans in Sage Payroll
    How to carry out a pay review and award a pay rise (or change in pay rates) to selected employees. How to set up, apply and process pension schemes, how to make use of the holiday facilities and record holidays and absences for employees, how to advance holiday pay and how to apply company loans.
  • Section 4 Linking Sage Payroll to other systems
    How to extract information from Sage Payroll for use in other programs. Information can be sent to Sage Instant Accounts, Sage Line 50 and Sage MMS. Your payroll information can also be sent to a file, for import or access from a non-Sage program and can also be integrated effectively with various MS Office programs.
  • Section 5 - Statutory Functions in Sage Payroll
    The statutory elements of payroll processing. You will learn, and practice, how to deal with Attachment of Earnings Orders, student loan deductions, Statutory Sick Pay, Statutory Maternity Pay and the other statutory absences and payments you will need to process.
  • Section 6 - The Period End, the Year End and e-submissions
    Understand the tasks you need to complete at a typical month end in payroll. You will also learn about and become familiar with the routines, reports and requirements linked to the Payroll Year End. How to produce and how to submit your Year End forms electronically to HM Revenue & Customs and how to process your payroll into the new tax year, even if you haven’t yet completed the current tax year end.
